This is a really BIG pot! I had been searching for a pot large enough to cook a large batch of breaded chicken cutlets all at one time. This pot fits the bill. I am able to cook 6 large pieces all in one batch. This pot cooks food very well and also cleans very easily. It is also great for cooking a large batch of spaghetti sauce with meatballs. You can easily brown all of your meatballs in one batch (using 2.5 lbs of ground meat) with room to spare.

We purchased this pan at Bed Bath and Beyond for 0 and returned it after one month for a full refund. While there, we noticed that all “Calphalon One” pots and pans have been clearanced out. Even at a greatly reduced rate they are not worth the money if you are looking for a nonstick pan. The pan is big and feels great but clean up is not like your typical nonstick because food sticks. I made steel cut oats using organic coconut oil and they still stuck to the pan each and every time I made them. We made other non meat foods and they stuck as well. I’m not saying food sticks as much as using a stainless steel pan but it doesnt work as well as other nonstick anodized pans. Considered knowledgeable cooks, we only buy high quality cookware/kitchenware since we cook a lot so I can not recommend this cookware.

This pot doesn’t keep it’s shape. Mine warped after a few uses and I don’t even use high heat. Don’t buy this if you have any kind of electric cook top.

I have used this pan several times, and it cooks evenly and cleans up beautifully. It is huge, so is great for browning a large quantity of meat in one round instead of having to do multiple batches. I’m a devoted All-Clad user, but this Calphalon One pan is right up there in quality, and for a great price. Highly recommend.

This past Christmas Season, I asked for Calphalon pots and pans and oh did my wish come true! Everyone bought me a least one pot or pan! I have a wonderful family who only live to please each other, so wow did I get Calphalon! Naturally there were some duplicates, so I returned the duplicates to Amazon and shopped and shopped with all my return credits and rather whimsically found things I wanted, I had never thought of a panini pan, but I thought it was a nice looking pan, best decision I ever made. I use it all the time, and if I’m not usung the pan I’m usuing the press to keep bacon from curling, pre-heating steaks to get the crossmarks on the meat and a million other things that are not coming to mind, I love it, and wondered how I cooked without it and I’ve been cooking for 35 years. Try it, you’ll love it!

I would not recommend this pan because of the lack of quality and durability of the non-stick coating. We needed a pan to use for everyday cooking items that stick or burn easily (i.e. eggs, garlic, etc.). All of our other pots and pans are Calphalon Contemporary Stainless and we’ve been very happy with them. This pan has a very attractive appearance and matched our current set, minus the non-stick coating.

We were careful to only use plastic spatulas and soft sponges to protect the non-stick coating. Within 3 weeks of getting this pan, the non-stick coating had scratched and chipped in several places. There was one deep scratch in the middle of the pan that went down to reveal a black area underneath. The pan was then unusable because of the danger of ingesting the peeled coating. Very dissatisfied since we had just spent about 0 on the pan a few weeks before. The lid and the outer steel casing held their appearance and transfer of heat seemed to work well, while we could still use it. Calphalon needs to improve the quality of the coating before we would ever buy another of their non-stick pans.

These pans heat unevenly to the point where they simultaneously burn and undercook food. We have not had this problem with our older Calphalon or All-Clad pans. The uneven heat distribution is undoubtedly related to the thickness of the aluminum. The bottom of the pans are 3.9mm thick. Our older Calphalon pans are 5.5mm thick–40% thicker! Indeed the pans feel lightweight and cheap, similar to non-stick pans you buy at the local supermarket. I suggest you avoid these pans and either buy a cheaper item of similar quality or hunt for better quality.

This review is based on 6 weeks experience with these pans.

An avid home cook that is a collector of both cookbooks and cooking gadgets writes this review. I use this steamer insert most days. I purchased the insert after continuing to read that steamed vegetables retained more of their vitamins and minerals. I did not want to go the bamboo steamer route, as I was afraid the wood could harbor bacteria. This product is now a must have in my kitchen. I have summarized my observations of this product below:

Pros:
1. Allows me to retrain more vitamins and minerals in the vegetables I feed my family
2. Easy to clean
3. Fits well in four or five of my Calphalon pots
4. Easy to store since it does fit inside other pots
5. Handles stay cool
6. Glass on lid is extremely thick
7. Glass lid fits snuggly which keeps steam from escaping
8. Large enough to steam a pound of haricot vert at one time
9. Excellent for making dim sum (steamed dumplings)
10. Reheats chicken breasts without drying them out
11. Can be used to refresh slightly stale bread

Cons:
1. Price

Overall I highly recommend this product to anyone that owns Calphalon or Calphalon One products.

I searched and searched for the perfect stockpot to get for my husband. This was it. I read all the complaining about the price being misleading on Amazon, well it is just about the same price everywhere. You people probably complain about the car lots and grocery stores for jacking prices up too. At least here you can do a little research and actually find out how full of it they are. Besides, the places that it was a little bit cheaper, they were out of stock. We love this product and the people who say that the holes are too big and pasta goes through them, well I don’t know what kind of past they are using but my angel hair stays right in the insert, maybe 2 or 3 noodles get through at the most. I have made chili a couple of times and it is wonderful, no sticking or burning on the bottom. It is the perfect size for 2 or 3 people. Buy it, you will love it.

Good heavy duty pot. Made lots of soup with it and cooked pasta. The only improvement I would ask is for more drainage in the pasta insert. Other than that it’s a great addition to the kitchen. i expect this pot to be around for quite a while.

The pot heats well but the holes in the pasta insert are too big and allows a great deal of pasta through to the pot. This defeats the purpose of a pasta pot. The insert also gives the pasta a metalic taste. The insert is highly polished on the outside but not on the inside. This could be the reason for the metallic taste.

I agree completely with Steve B’s review. The pot is fine and up to Calphalon expectations. However, Amazon continues its practice of false or misleading pricing information. The list price from Calphalon is 99, not the 210 displayed with the product. So, once again, Amazon attempts to lure customers with false advertising. At least I made my purchase knowing the actual cost.

The reason for the 3 star rating…. lightweight, handles are not as functional as I would like. Felt for the money, the feel should have been substantial.
