I would not recommend this pan because of the lack of quality and durability of the non-stick coating. We needed a pan to use for everyday cooking items that stick or burn easily (i.e. eggs, garlic, etc.). All of our other pots and pans are Calphalon Contemporary Stainless and we’ve been very happy with them. This pan has a very attractive appearance and matched our current set, minus the non-stick coating.

We were careful to only use plastic spatulas and soft sponges to protect the non-stick coating. Within 3 weeks of getting this pan, the non-stick coating had scratched and chipped in several places. There was one deep scratch in the middle of the pan that went down to reveal a black area underneath. The pan was then unusable because of the danger of ingesting the peeled coating. Very dissatisfied since we had just spent about 0 on the pan a few weeks before. The lid and the outer steel casing held their appearance and transfer of heat seemed to work well, while we could still use it. Calphalon needs to improve the quality of the coating before we would ever buy another of their non-stick pans.

I researched varios manufacturers and the technologies and concluded that AllKlad was the best with its stainless, copper, stainless technology with Calphalon Anodized One a close second. However when I went to a Williams Sonoma store I had a chance to handle both and I discovered the Allklads were heavy and for some crazy reason they made the single handle pan rounded on bottom making it hard to hold without the pan slippling right or left. So at that point I decided the Calphalon was for me as it was lighter and the handles felt better. I have purchase several Calphalon pans/skillets now and I have no regrets. These pans are very good at transferring heat evenly, have fairly good non-stick qualities, and cook the food very well, and the price compares very favorably against allklad. You cant go wrong with Allklads or Calphalon’s but I do think that unless you are Rocky Balboa you may find the Calphalons easier to handle.

10-15-2009 update: After owning Calphalon pans 2 years I find they are still holding up well. If you purchase these pans (infused anodized) you must know that they are very good at transferring heat so always cook at low to mid temperatures because if you use the high setting on the range you will not cook any quicker but you will have the food sticking to the pan.

More name than non-stick covering – Rachel M. Hansen – California
We have had this pan for 5 yrs. Within the first 2 yrs, it warped. We wash by hand, use medium, never high, heat, and use the 400 degree capable plastic utensils. The pan is not flat now, so I cannot cook our food evenly with our flat cooktop stove. Also, the non-stick is coming off. Maybe ours is faulty, but I won’t ever buy their non-stick again.

I so wish the people raving about this pan would post exactly how they are using it! I followed the instructions to a “T” – pre-heating the pan on medium, then adding olive oil. I had the food (trout, with the skin on) at room temperature, and the fish stuck to the pan so hard, it came up in shreds when I tried to serve it. And forget about the skin, which was glued to the bottom of the pan. I scrubbed the pan down with Barkeepers Friend and tried again with chicken the next night. Same problem. This pan is going to Good Will unless someone has some insight to offer on how to use it so that it’s even remotely “stick-resistant.”!!

This 10″ nonstick “EVERYDAY” pan has truly become just that for me.
I live alone, so many of my meals are of a smaller amount (when I’m not cooking for the kids and grand kids). Whether for breakfast eggs or quantites of stir fry meals it acts as a fry pan as well as a small wok.
I am very pleased with this item and have had no flaking on the surface after four years of service. True, the handles get hot from the gas jet. That’s why we use fire and not ice to prepare meals. But with a hot pot holder I can tip the pan and scrape out the contents into a bowl or onto a plate. With two pot holders I can give a quick shake and slip three eggs over the edge and onto a plate. Perfect for a single guy who enjoys a good meal.

This product is perfect for meals for one or two people. I can brown meat and/or vegetables in the pan and then transfer it to the oven for roasting and deliver it to the table with a serving spoon. My only problem to date has been warming the pan, (receiving a telephone call that lasted over a half hour) and the pan and lid burned. The interior of the pan looks all right; however, it now tends to stick; and the interior of the lid is a copper color, Does anyone know how to clean the lid and make the pan stick proof again. Other than my absentmindedness, this has been the perfect pan for my household.

As long as you are preparing a meal for yourself rather than for a family, Caphalon’s Nonstick 10-inch Everyday Pan is just the one you want to fry a small piece of meat or fish and a serving or two of veggies. Just a tablespoon of olive oil on medium heat is sufficient to saute the vegetables and later cook a serving of meat or fish. Another feature of this pan is how easily it cleans after it cools. Amazon sells it for a very reasonable .99. I really love this frying pan.I use it more than any other.

This is a great pan to use either on the stove top or in the oven. It fits nicely in the oven because there isn’t a long handle (just two small handles on either side) like on some other brands of high end cookware. It washes up nicely, but keep in mind that this piece is not dishwasher safe (per the manufacturer). I have made chili, stew, and sauces in my pan, as well as scrambled eggs for a large group and browned different types of meat. I find I am using this far more than I thought I would.

Cooking fish was always such a pain, and then I bought this pan. I rub a little bit of olive oil in the pan with a paper towel (per instructions), pre-heat, put in the fish. No smoke, no smell, and the cleanup is so easy. I must admit that when I unpacked the pan I was concerned because it seemed so big. No problem at all. Plus for messy people like me, food doesn’t slop over the edge. I highly recommend this pan.

This pan certainly was aptly named. I use it for everything. It’s the perfect size and shape. I love the fact that it has no handle sticking out to get in the way. Nothing sticks to it and has beautifully even heat distribution. I would definitely recommend this one.

If it wasn’t under a lifetime warrantee I would have thrown it in the trash! I sent back my 4th Everyday Pan last week … not because I like it so much … but approximately every two years I’ve had to send it back to Calphalon for replacement. At least they honor their warrantee. Eventually the non-stick will start flaking and the pan will start developing `hot spots’. It’s never been abused or misused according to their instructions, but that does not seem to matter. The sad part of the story is that I really love the pan. It is the right size to do a multitude of cooking tasks and on a crowded stovetop there is no 10″ handle to get in the way. Would I actually purchase another one or recommend the product? Definitely not … and until they stop honoring their warrantee I’ll keep sending them back for replacement.

Ok … an update. I send back my 4th Everyday Pan and quite promply they honored the lifetime warrantee. But instead of sending me back another Everyday Pan they send me a ‘Calphalon One Infused Anodized 8-Inch Fry Pan’. Don’t get me wrong … it is a nice 8″ fry pan. But it is NOT any close to an Everyday Pan nor would I have ever bought one.

As soon as I saw this pan here on Amazon.com, I was hoping it would be my favorite pan……..and it is. I’ve never had an “Everyday” pan, but it truly is that, and the size and shape are perfect to sit right on my glass-top stove and be out of the way but handy to grab. I’ve only had it for a couple of weeks, but I’ll come back and edit my review after a few months. I use stainless Cuisinart pans for everything else, but a little non-stick skillet is vital for a quick breakfast sandwich, etc., and I’m used to having to replace them (even the expensive ones) every few months. We’ll see how this one holds up.

Calphalon One is outstanding! After years of inexpensive pans that warp and chip easy and do not clean easy, it is refreshing to have a pan that does it all: well made, heats evenly, clean easily, handles heat well (no warping!), etc. We purchased two other Caphalon One pans (12 inch and 13 inch) and haven’t looked back. We use at least one of the pans almost daily, certainly one of our best kitchen purchases ever.

I have a wide range of Calphalon Contemporary cookwear plus several cast iron fry pans and dutch oven. The Everyday Pan is the pan that gets the most use. This pan isn’t meant for every job in the kitchen, it’s great for smaller jobs: 2 or 3 eggs, skillet dinners for 1 or 2, sauteed shrimp or pan-seared fish for 2, or a spontaneous grilled-cheese sandwich. I used it to make an egg frittata for four large appetites, and had left-overs. It goes easily from stove-top to oven (or broiler), and looks sleek on the table.

One reviewer didn’t like the pot handles because they get hot (they do); however the little pot handles are also its greatest asset – it’s the handles that make it so versatile. With a more traditional handle, it would be just another fry pan.

I want Calphalon to make one exactly like it in a 12″ size.

This is a nice, medium-sized pan for everyday use. With a little butter or oil, even eggs don’t stick if you cook at low to moderate heat. It heats well and evenly. Does steaks as well as pancakes, vegetables. Cleaning can be a bit difficult, though. A stainless steel cleaner like the ones recommended in the pan’s literature work, but it’s hard to clean the rim’s indentation at the top and around the bolts attaching the handles. I would purchase it again or others like it.

Not easy to clean – sweety –
This product has a very contemporary look that is all that is good about it. And that’s the reason for one star.
The lid is very heavy compared to the pan itself, the handles don’t really stay cool. And the food sticks, even on low heat settings.
The clean up is not easy if anything. I have to scrub the pan myself after it is out of the dishwasher.
I am not at all happy with this product, I expected value for my money spent with calphalon.
